Ali Ahmida addresses questions about Islam on MPBN’s ‘Maine Calling’

On October 23, 2014, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, served as a guest on "Maine Calling," a program on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN).  The topic of the show was "Understanding Islam."

Ahmida, along with three other guests, discussed issues concerning Islam, a religion with more than 1.5 billion followers, which is often poorly understood by people outside of the faith.

Among other things, the panelists addressed the dangers of conflating actions of Muslim extremist groups, such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), with the beliefs of the majority of followers.
