David Smith鈥檚 research on lying cited in two Spanish language publications

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, was quoted as an expert on lying in an article that was recently published in the Spanish newspaper El Pais and in the Latin American digital newspaper Ensemana.

The article, whose title translates to "Is Lying Good for your Health?" discusses the evolutionary benefits that came with a natural selection process favoring those who could successfully lie.

Smith鈥檚 research on the topic, discussed in his book Why We Lie:  The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind, lends credence to the article鈥檚 claim that the tendency to lie is very much embedded in human nature.
