Guy DeFeo participates in a MBPN 'Maine Calling' program on recruiting physicians in Maine

Guy A DeFeo  D.O., 色中色官网 College of Osteopathic Medicine associate dean for Clinical Education, was a participant in MPBN radio's June 17th "Maine Calling" program on "Recruiting and Retaining Physicians in Maine." He joined panelists from Tufts University and the University of Southern Maine and a student from Boston University Medical School.

The participants discussed the challenges of recruiting physicians for underserved areas of Maine. DeFeo explained that over 30 years, some 500 COM graduates are practicing in Maine and that roughly 60 percent of COM graduates go on to specialize in primary care areas such as family medicine, pediatrics and internal medicine. He also noted that the class that will enroll in COM in fall 2014 will have 36 students from Maine. .
