Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour presents research at New England Psychological Association conference

Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour, Ph.D., recently conducted a presentation on the science of teaching and learning at the annual in Lewiston, Maine.

Because the exploration of teaching practices to optimize student learning from a scientific perspective is receiving increased recognition among universities and colleges across the nation, Stiegler-Balfour鈥檚 presentation traced the history of the science of teaching and learning and explored applications for today鈥檚 professoriate.

The talk highlighted the differences among various types of science of teaching and learning research and various opportunities for using pedagogical research to improve teaching methods and techniques. Specific research projects were discussed to demonstrate how such projects can inform teaching practices and also help faculty to maintain an engaging research program throughout their career.
